Description

The Shelta Face Gaiter provides a long-lasting solution to protect your face and neck from harmful UV rays. This lightweight gaiter is crafted from moisture-wicking stretch fabric and features silicone coated laser-cut breathing holes for breathability. With UPF 50+ protection, it covers your nose and neckline and can even fit over a cap or under a sunhat. Remember, only using a sun hat is not enough to protect against UV rays that can reflect off surfaces like water. For easy storage, the gaiter comes with a reusable pouch.

A step above others that I've tried

I've tried a few other face gaiters and just couldn't wear them - either they're too tight or my nose is too big. This one seems to have the best fit yet. Haven't worn it for an extended period yet, but it's headed for the Sea of Cortez for the next six months.

Great Sun Protection

At first I had bought the neck shield because I was worried about overheating in face gaiter, but the neck shield just blew wildly in wind no matter which way I attached it supplying little sun protection. So decided to try face gaiter and it is wonderful. It fits my head well, might be too tight for someone with a large head though. It secures well over ears with hat holding it down and completely shields neck and lower face, only my eyes peak out and are covered by hat brim. Although it is close to skin it really doesn't get too hot even in 90+ F degrees, can feel breeze against it. Yes, you will sweat under it, but a tradeoff for great sun protection.

One gripe

I love the material, love the laser cut holes, love pattern. What I don't like is how tight and short it is around the neck. The tighter design of the neck causes it to bunch up at the base of your neck leaving skin exposed unless you button your top button. I wish the bottom of the gaiter was looser and had a flare to it like some of my other ones which allows the fabric to completely fill the neckline of my shirts. If it were looser around the neck, it would be 6 stars.

Best there is

Unfortunately I wear glasses so all other buffs cause them to fog up which forces me to pull the buff down. As a result my nose and upper face gets burned regardless of how many times I reapply sunscreen. This gaiter solves this problem, is comfortable, lightweight and is a must have if you are going to spend extended periods of time on the water.
